Outro

This is my last video for the online video seminar.

Second Life final

After signing up for SL for the third time it finally worked. I chose my avatar, my new last name and activated my account. Yesterday evening I spent some time checking out the basic things around my SL.

I logged in as a "resident" which sounds kind of weird to me, but well. After some time of klicking around, reading and , my resume is very clear and very short: my days in Second Life are counted.
Some reasons are:
*People get addicted faster as they recognize.
*They start to pay monthly fees for better accounts, buy more and more Linden Dollars (the "inworld currency" of SL).
*They spend their whole time in this virtual world.
*REAL networks/relationships break up (or are ignored) because not everyone has/wants a SL account.

There are many more reasons why I decline virtual worlds like SL. But I'm tired of it and SL in general. Annoyed of the way of trying to convince someone not to cancel the account.

"... You know you don't have to cancel ... "

"Leb dein Leben" - Video Project

This is a video about a young girl who is addicted to facebook. It is done like one of the daily reality soaps that are on TV in the afternoons. The difference is that we put all the necessary information in four instead of the usual 45 minutes. We chose facebook then as an example for all virtual communities because on one hand nearly everybody has a facebook account and on the other hand those who haven't got one know facebook all the same. The video shows how easy people can lose their sense for reality while getting deeper into these virtual communities.

Denise Bauer lost her job some time ago because she was not able to stop posting things on her wall on the job. Now she neither has a future in real life nor someone who is getting her out of this desaster. The most important thing for Denise is to stay in contact with her 3000 friends on facebook...
